What Our Students Say
I use the breathing techniques we learned from class very often. I used to have extreme difficulty coping with stress. Utilizing the breathing exercises while in quarantine has helped me relax, even after watching scary news!
I think the biggest takeaway for me was learning about the chakras, and checking in with your body from head-to-toe, and notice where you are carrying physical and emotional pain. I learned that stress is not permanent or untreatable.
The best thing I learned in yoga is to respect myself and recognize my limits. My teacher always reminded us to pay attention to if we were being lazy, overambitious, or just right. She never pressured me to push my body to do something it wasn’t able to. I learned to manage my emotions and to be nicer to myself.
Specifically in these COVID times, I have been dealing with more anxiety and mood swings. Yoga has helped me acknowledge these feelings, and take the time to process them rather than ignore them. I now understand the importance of balance, and not to worry if I don’t feel great all the time. We’re only human.
